The is no doubt in my mind that Lydia Ko is the golfer of the year. She is the best ranked amateur and has racked up enough points in her limited professional tournament appearances to climb up to 5th in the Women’s World Rankings. She has won on both LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour this year and narrowly lost to Suzanne Petterson at the rain-shortened final major of the year, The Evian Championship. Now try and remember what you had achieved by the age of 16.

There have been a lot of weather delays during the 2013 golf season. It started off with strong winds at Tournament of Champions in Hawaii, then snow at the WGC Accenture in Tucson and it finished with storms brewing over Ohio and the Presidents Cup. Perhaps God hasn’t been the biggest fan of golf this year or maybe its something to do with global warming. Whatever the reason, when lightning strikes – run.
